Catalog description

Three hours of lecture per week. The course is a review for the Fundamentals of Engineering (FE) exam to aid student preparation and exam performance. ENGY 103 ELECTRIC ENERGY BASIC CONCEPTS 1 CREDIT One hour of lecture per week. This is an introductory course in electrical energy concepts. The course explains what is the electricity and how electrical energy is generated. The basic units for electric circuits. Electrical quantities as electric charge, current, voltage, power and energy. Also , prepares students in identify the different elements in an electric circuit and their applications in real life. In addition, students must complete computer -based test in the form of knowledge area tests and a comprehensive final exam. Students will use critical thinking and good engineering judgment to analyze and evaluate information that enables them to solve problems that arise in the engineering profession. ENGY 203 FUNDAMENTALS OF ELECTRICAL ENERGY SYSTEMS 1 CREDIT One hour of lecture per week. This is an introductory course in fundamentals of Electrical Energy Systems. The course explains how electrical energy is generated, transformed, transmitted, distributed and used in electrical power system. Describe the different elements that perfo rms all these functions to deliver the energy in real time to the final customer. Also, prepares students in identify the different elements in a power system and their applications in real life. In addition, students must complete computer -based test in t he form of knowledge area tests and a comprehensive final exam. Students will use critical thinking and good engineering judgment to analyze and evaluate information that enables them to solve problems that arise in the engineering profession. ENGY 303 ENERGY AND ELECTRICAL POWER SYSTEMS 1 CREDIT One hour of lecture per week. This is an introductory course in Electric Power and Energy Systems. The course explains how, using energy principles, the conversion of different types of energy to electrical energy is carried out. Describe the different sources of renewable energy used to produce electrical energy using storage systems. In addition, it prepares students to identify the costs of energy use in real life. In addition, students are required to complete a computer-based test in the form of knowledge area tests and a comprehensive final exam. Students will use critical thinking and good engineering judgment to analyze and evaluate information that enables them to solve problems that arise in the engineering profession. ETAP 300 ENGINEERING TECHNOLOGY APPLICATION PROJECT 1 CREDIT For Engineering Technology Application: The focus of the course is an application project -oriented course for the Electronic, Avionics and Networking Engineering Technology Programs. This is a team-oriented project course. The students will select a real-world industrial or technical service project; forms teams as determined and/or approved by the instructor, apply the knowledge and skills developed through the courses taken earlier in the program study for solving the project problem, and formally present their proposal to the class. Industrial plant visit will be an integral part of the class. One semester, 1 hour of lecture per week. For Industrial Internship: The focus of the course is an application project -oriented course for the Electronic, Avionics and Networking Engineering Technology Programs. This is a team-oriented project course. The student will be selected in a real -world industrial enterprise and assigned to technical service project under company supervision; forms teams as determined and approved by the supervisor and instructor, apply the knowledge and skills developed through the courses taken earlier in the program stu dy and companies technical training for solving the project problem, and formally present final results to instructor and supervisor. Industrial plant attendance will be compulsory and integral part of the class. One semester, 1 hour of lecture per week.
