ELECTRICAL MACHINES

Catalog description

Three hours of lecture per week. Analysis of electrical machines and transformers. Topics include the theory and operation of direct current motors, direct current generators, alternating current motors, alternating current generators, and transformers. In the alternating current motors and transformers both single-phase and three-phase systems are included. In this course students will apply quantitative reasoning and critical thinking skills to analyze different types of electrical machines used in many applications suc h as electrical vehicles, wind turbines, power distribution, servo drives, among others.
