LARGE ANIMAL SURGERY LAB

Catalog description

Veterinary students will receive guidance and assistance with anesthesia and surgical procedures in a team/ group setting. Students will rotate through different surgical team roles (anesthetist, surgeon, assistant surgeon, surgery technical) throughout the course in order to facilitate complete understanding of surgical team approach. Primary pre and post -surgical case responsibility will be handled by the student surgical team, with appropriate faculty oversight when necessary. Adequate preparation prior to surgical procedures is essential as clinical faculty will not compensate for inadequate preparation.
