Catalog description
The course provides the fundamental concepts of Operative Dentistry in preparation for the clinical practice to repair the loss of tooth structure resulting from caries or trauma, following proper cavity preparation and restoration techniques to obtain opt imal form, function, and esthetics. The course includes review of the processes for prevention of dental disease. In addition, the course emphasizes principles of minimally invasive dentistry, physical and mechanical properties of dental materials and their clinical application, direct and indirect restorative materials and techniques, ergonomics, and principles of dental bonding. An additional goal of importance for the course is the development of students' psychomotor skills and abilities of cavity pr eparations with emphasis on self - assessment. The course also introduces the use of digital technology.
