Catalog description

This course introduces the student to the general principles and specific information that must be mastered to perform low complexity surgical procedures in the oral cavity. It teaches aspects related to the assessment and management of the surgical patient, starting with basic concepts on biosecurity, s terilization, instrument management, and surgical times. The course also introduces basic oral surgery procedures for the general practitioner, such as exodontia, pre-prosthetic surgery, and implantology. Patient complications related to surgical care are also discussed.
