INTENSIFICATION TO CLINICAL DENTISTRY

Catalog description

This summer term course provides opportunities for students to continue providing patient -centered comprehensive clinical management and care to their assigned patients. The course also incorporates insightful and thought-provoking exercises as part of a curricular strategy to emphasize (“intensify”) the importance of self - assessment, reflection, and the integration of evidence -based knowledge in problem -solving as essential instruments to maintain their lifetime commitment of continued development and imp rovement as a dental professional. Now that students are no longer new to patient care the course will provide opportunities for students to share important self -assessment and reflections based on their own educational experiences in the Program, a component of their individual reflective portfolio documentation. The students will also be challenged with a case - based scenario that resulted in unfavorable treatment outcomes to engage in review of applicable peer -reviewed literature, literature interpreta tion and “implementation” of evidence -based knowledge that would have contributed to better treatment outcomes and prognosis.
