This course presents the origin, history and development of the Criminal Justice System in PR. Explores the influence of the study of criminal justice as subject, in the evolution of the criminal justice systems of the world. Examines the function and characteristics of the police, the courts, defense lawyers, prosecutors, correctional facilities and juvenile criminal justice facilities. Explores the issues of public policy related to crime prevention in PR. Includes study of crime, its definition, reach an d associated factors. Use theories to investigate crime origins and criminal behavior causes at the individual level. It also explores the impact of the criminal activity in our society and the systems’ approaches to reduce such impact.
