Catalog description

The General Biochemistry II course provides the student with a broader overview of the basic concepts in Biochemistry; The emphasis of this part is focused on bioenergetics and intermediate metabolism, evolution of proteins, amino acids and nitrogen metabolism, synthesis of purines and pyrimidines, nucleic acids, DNA repair and recombination, transcription and processing of RNA, protein synthesis and regulation of gene expression. Emphasis is placed on supramolecular complexes, molecular dynamics in living cells, among others, for the development of scientific reasoning skills, through the analysis of chemical exercises/problems, which allow the student to solve using critical thinking. Technological competence is observed in the use of bioinformatics, -omics and molecular modeling programs. Information skills are developed in the search for theoretical data fo r the biochemical analysis of biomolecules.
