Catalog description

The Bioinformatics course comprises fundamental concepts, methods, tools and their applications to biomedical research. It introduces the importance of this discipline, and its relation to molecular biology. Topics covered include bioinformatics database, sequence and structure alignments, gene predictions, phylogenetic analysis, protein folding and structure prediction, among others. Upon completion of the course, students should be more comfortable and skilled to work with the vast amounts of data generat ed on their own research and be able to use relevant online resources and bioinformatics tools to solve the problems and answer their inquiries.
