Lecture and discussion course on the fundamental notions of the chemistry of vital processes life. It includes the study of water and biomolecules: the structural and functional relationship of (1) nucleotides, nucleic acids and genetic information, (2) amino acids (3) proteins: primary structure and three -dimensional structure, (4) protein function: myoglobin and hemoglobin, (5) carbohydrates, (6) lipids and biological membranes, (7) enzymatic catalysis and (8) enzyme kinetics, inhibition and control. Nucleic acids and their metabolism. Metabolic processes related to energy storage and its utilization, also the transmission and expression of genetic infor mation will be studied.
