Catalog description

This course builds upon foundational biological concepts to explore the diversity, structure, and function of life. Students examine evolutionary mechanisms, biological classification, and the anatomy and physiology of plants and animals. Additional topics include ecology, environmental challenges, and organismal i nteractions within ecosystems. Emphasis is placed on evolutionary biology, biodiversity, systematics, organ systems, reproduction, and ecological principles applied to current environmental issues. Laboratory components include hands-on experiences with bi ological diversity, anatomical dissection, physiological experimentation, and ecological data analysis, reinforcing the theoretical content presented in class. The course consists of 45 hours of lecture s and 45 hours of laboratory.
