Study of the theoretical foundations on the history and origin of massage. Aspects discussed include professional, ethical, legal, hygienic and safety in the massage room, types of clients, consultation techniques and preparation of the environment, equipment and the most used products, with their general effects and contraindications. It includes the study of massage techniques using a professional chair as we ll as a common chair. Emphasis is placed on the development of knowledge and skills in anatomy and physiology, pathology, contraindications, benefits and physiological effects of techniques that manipulate soft tissue and body biomechanics. These competenc ies will be developed through demonstrations and practical exercises that will allow the student to offer their clients massage therapies that result in the holistic benefit of the patient (physical, emotional and mental), and at the same time offer chair therapy to release stress and pain. The course also allows the development of critical thinking, communication, ethics and diversity skills.
