Catalog description

This course studies the fundamentals of ultrasound physics and instrumentation. The main content areas of the course include the basic physics of ultrasound, continuous wave, pulsed wave, tissue attenuation, properties of the transducer element, and image artifacts. This course provides the student with the necessary skills for the effective management of the instrumentation of the equipment for the formation of quality sonographic images and safely using the necessary equipment and the most appropriate technology for these purposes. Learn the main components within a Diagnostic Ultrasound equipment. The interaction of sound with sof t tissue and the factors that affect it are demonstrated, allowing you to understand and introduce you to the concepts of hemodynamics, Doppler physics and instrumentation. This course meets 45 hours per semester.
