This course is an introduction to the profession of Medical Sonography. The student will be able to study the fundamentals of the history of Medical Sonography. This course covers concepts such as: skills and abilities as a candidate for professional sonography and advantag es of this profession. During the course the student is introduced to the different specialties, administrative tasks and responsibilities in patient care within the profession. You will learn concepts such as movement and transfer of patients, asepsis techniques, vital signs, first aid and CPR, the role of the sonographer, the different specialties of the profession, and basic instrumentation. The student will also become familiar with and know the controls of the sonographic equipment. This course meets 3 0 hours of theory for one semester
