INTRODUCTION TO HUMAN AND ANIMAL INTERACTION

Catalog description

This course will introduce the main aspects of human animal interactions. Topics covered in this course will include human and non-human animal behaviors/interactions and their evolutionary process, the history of our bond and where we are now, history of animal rights and animal welfare including our current stand in Puerto Rico. During the course the similarities and differences between human and non -human animals giving special emphasis to learning, motivation, e motion, empathy, language, communication, cognition, behavior, morality and problem solving will be discussed. Also, the link between cruelty to animals and violence toward humans will be introduced.
