Catalog description
This course discusses the importance of holistic health and safety in the preschool environment. It includes health (hygiene and nutrition) and safety procedures in a quality service-oriented environment. State and federal preschool program performance standards and laws related to health and safety in a preschool setting are analyzed. Scientific reasoning is stimulated on a developing level by implementing health procedures su ch as diaper changing, toothbrushing, hand washing, as well as safety drills in case of fire, earthquake, and active shooter situations. Critical thinking is encouraged at a basic level, by working on confidentiality practices to protect the health and saf ety of children, and through planning activities that promote good nutritional habits for infants and preschoolers.
