Catalog description

The course is the last in a six-course series designed to provide supervised experiences where students will develop their knowledge, skills, and abilities to match academic preparation as a movement system expert. This course builds on prior coursework and focuses on preparing students for their full -time clinical experiences by enhancing skills to work effectively with diverse patient populations in various rehabilitation settings. Through a combination of hands- on clinical experiences, community -based activities and immersive laboratories, students will engage with diverse patient populations across the continuum of care from inpatient settings to homecare to community wellness centers, including people with HIV, post -COVID syndrome, high performance athletes, specialized care units (e.g., ICU) with a focus on early mobility, neurorehabilitation, and complex health conditions. The cours e emphasizes evidence-based practice, clinical reasoning, and effective communication with patients, caregivers, and peers. This integrated clinical experience provides DPT students with a holistic and inclusive perspective on physical therapy practice
