This course studies the basic concepts in the interaction between nutrition, sports and exercise. It emphasizes athletes, their physical conditions and nutritional needs, as well as their particular needs. The objectives of the course are: 1. Define basic concepts of exercise physiology. 2. Assess an athlete nutritional status and perform basic menus for athlete groups. 3. Describe functions and requirements of each essential nutrient in athletes. 4. Identify nutrients excess or deficiencies in athletes. 5. Identify myths, fallacies, about nutritional supplement or ergogenic aids in sports. 6. Describe and address special health conditions in sports.
