Catalog description
This course offers the student the base of knowledge on the theories of growth, development, and the ethical/legal aspects of pediatric nursing care. It emphasizes health promotion, disease prevention, nutrition, cultural diversity, and social determinants of h ealth. Emphasis is placed on developing the skills necessary for disease prevention, health promotion, and maintenance. Uses the nursing process for evidence -based pathophysiological and therapeutic management, communication skills, collaboration, and deve lopment of professional roles such as: care provider, manager, coordinator and legal ethical values, professional and practice standards, and member of the profession. Requires 3 hours of theoretical classes and 6 hours of clinical practice per week. The c linical practice component requires students to complete 45 hours of clinical skills (22.5 of skills and 22.5 of clinical simulation) and 45 of clinical practice in the assigned area for a total of 90 hours
