Catalog description

Introductory study to prepare students in the identification and investigation of cybercrimes using a scientific investigative methodology with emphasis on the protection, collection and management of digital evidence. Discussion of the basic principles of "ethical hackers" and social engineering. At the end of the course, the student will have developed the following skills: Critical thinking and communication when analyzing cybercrime cases, examining digital evidence and presenting detailed reports on their findings, technological skills when using digital analysis tools and scientific reasoning when applying rigorous methods to identify and investigate cybercrime, ethics and diversity competencies when facing moral dilemmas related to privacy and responsibility in the digital world, while strengthen ing their understanding of cultural and thought diversity by analyzing cybercrime in a global context and forensic investigative competency by learning to methodically and accurately collect, preserve, and analyze digital evidence..
