Catalog description

This course offers the student an overview and analysis of the nature of the autism spectrum and the psychosocial aspects of students with the diagnosis. Background data will be presented, as well as the etiology and prevalence of autism spectrum disorder based on recent research around this condition. The characteristic behaviors of these will be examined, recognizing the challenges related to t he different psychosocial aspects of the student with autism. Through the course, the main intervention models recommended to achieve effective social relationships in the different environments shared by the student with ASD will be presented. In addition, strategies that emphasize and facilitate the optimal development of social skills will be discussed.
