Catalog description

This course covers the basic properties of viruses in relation to their functions as disease-causing agents. Emphasis will be placed on a systematic review of viral diseases in each domestic species, differential diagnosis, prevention, and control. Health will be emphasized considering that many viral diseases can be zoonotic and easily spread. Information on diagnostic tests and sampling will be shared with the Clinical Skills Laboratory so that students have a clear understanding of the use of these procedures in each disease for effective diagnosis, control, and communication.
