This course will focus on the detailed functional physiological mechanisms of the cell, tissue and organ systems found in the body of domestic animals, focusing on their homeostasis function in a healthy, physiological state. The course utilizes didactic lectures content to review the molecular and cellular bases of physiological regulation and the functional regulation of the nervous and musculoskeletal systems. The cours e will explore how the cardiovascular and respiratory systems function, as well as the creation of blood cells and the mechanism of bloo d coagulation. Emphasis will be placed on fundamental pathophysiological mechanisms, with a strong focus on linking these principles to clinical cases and applications, which provides a holistic view of disease process, bridging the gap between basic science and clinical practice. Whenever possible, variations amongst domestic animal species on the basic pathophysiological mechanisms will be emphasized and be correlated with clinical topics. Through consideration of the normal functions of animal body systems, students will be able to describe the important normal functional relationship associated these systems that allows normal physiological functions.
