EXTRAMURAL DENTAL PRACTICE

Catalog description

This course offers extramural service -learning experiences for dental students to deliver oral care to diverse populations and stages of life as part of a team of interdisciplinary health providers in service organizations outside of the SDM Clinics. Through the field experiences students will better understand the place of dentistry in the provision of he althcare as they work effectively within a service organization that incorporates interprofessional interactions. At the end of the course the students will also have a better understanding of the different dental health care services modalities and of th e intricacies associated with dental care organizations such as, staffing, programming, resource allocation, utilization of services, etc.
