REHABILITATION AND CORRECTIONAL SYSTEMS OF PUERTO RICO

Catalog description

The principles of the Puerto Rico correctional system, philosophy, legal bases, organization and operation will be studied. It includes correctional institutions and their programs, as well as treatment for members of the correctional population in correct ional institutions. The correctional systems of Puerto Rico will be analyzed and evaluated with emphasis on the organization and operation of the Department of Correction and Rehabilitation (DCR). A critical and comprehensive analysis of the Puerto Rican c orrectional system will be prepared with the purpose of proposing an intervention plan that enables the development of a correctional system that encourages the rehabilitation of the correctional population.
