Catalog description

Three credit-hours. Three hours of lecture per week. This is an advanced course in operating systems (OS). It focuses on the design and construction of a modern OS kernel. Topics include booting, system calls, process and thread abstractions, scheduling, s ynchronization, interprocess communication, memory management, file systems, device drivers, and network management. Students will use computer tools and their analytical skills to analyze and write source codes for OS kernels.
