Catalog description

This course emphasizes the development of critical thinking skills for the design and planning of the different types of synthesis, using different methods of construction of carbonated skeletons, the reactivity of the different functional groups, their control and modification, as well as the stereochemical aspect s in the process. The student develops scientific reasoning and chemical reasoning skills in retrosynthesis analyses, evaluation and comparison of synthetic routes, reaction mechanisms, conformational aspects and synthetic strategies necessary to solve synthesis problems using the concepts studied in the organic chemistry courses. The most used reactions for the formation of C-C, C-heteroatom bonds and the interconversion of functional groups will be studied.
