Catalog description

This course examines the principles and mechanisms of biological evolution, a foundational concept in the life sciences. Topics include genetic variation, natural selection, speciation, extinction, and the evolutionary history of life on Earth. Students will explore how evolutiona ry processes shape biodiversity and the adaptations of organisms across time. Special emphasis is placed on the origin of life, the fossil record, evolutionary transitions (e.g., aquatic to terrestrial life, the evolution of flight), and human evolution.
