MENTAL HEALTH FOUNDATIONS

Catalog description

This course is designed to increase allied healthcare workers’ knowledge, skills, motivation, and confidence related to the identification of and response to patients exhibiting signs of mental health and substance use disorders within general and specialt y healthcare settings. Prevalence rates, potential risk factors, common symptoms, essential care, and evidence -based practices will be addressed for a range of disorders including depression, anxiety, disruptive behavioral disorders, psychosis, substance use disorders, dementia, and suicide/self-injury. Emphasis will also be placed on reduction of stigma, promotion of help seeking behaviors, and recovery.
