Catalog description

This course emphasizes legal principles, procedures, and regulations which affect the control, use, and release of health information, including HIPAA. Students will be introduced to standard and electronic medical record systems and management as well as how to respond to issues of confidentiality. Topics include the medical record release, medical record formats, types of filing systems and medical records storage.
