Catalog description

This course provides students with an overview of the reimbursement and payment methodologies adopted in various healthcare settings. The forms, processes, and practices of the health information professional will be discussed. Students will also gain a basic understanding of the payment systems for healthcare services. Additional topics discussed include managed care capitation, third party billing, prospective payment systems, policy, regulatory information technology, and data exchange between providers.
