CURRENT PROCEDURAL TERMINOLOGY (CPT) CODING

Catalog description

This course provides students with an overview of the medical code set that is used to report medical, surgical, and diagnostic procedures and services. Students will gain an understanding of the Current Procedural Terminology (CPT) system as it is used in healthcare settings for medical services and procedures performed by a healthcare provider. Topics discussed include Evaluation and Management (E/M) codes, modifiers, and the Healthcare Common Procedure Coding System (HCPCS). The application of procedural coding principles is explored through simulation activities.
