Disney & the Art of Story
Tulane University of Louisiana · UGRD · Fall 2026
1 section
Catalog description
At the core of every animated Disney movie is a story which has stood the test of centuries: a ‘tale as old as time’. What makes these stories so powerful and compelling? Is it character development, animation, or plot? In this course, we will explore the movies which comprise the ‘Golden Age’ of Disney animation. We will dive into the literary sources which inspired each film, and dissect and analyze each movie, to better understand the building blocks – and power – of the stories the animators so carefully constructed.
