This course explores Arab cinema as a gateway to understanding the rich cultural landscape of the Arab world. While the region shares many commonalities, each Arab country has its own distinct traditions, values, and social dynamics. We will examine how these differences and similarities are reflected in the films of the region, covering topics such as cultural norms, the role of women, freedom of expression, and other significant social issues. By analyzing key films, students will gain insight into the diverse experiences and complexities of life across the Arab world.
