Catalog description

This course examines the political forces that shape health policy and reform in the United States. Students will explore how ideology, interest groups, institutions, and public opinion influence health policy decisions. Topics include the role of Congress, the presidency, and federal agencies; lobbying and advocacy; and the politics of major reforms. Through debates, case studies, and policy analysis, students will gain insight into the complex interplay between politics and health systems.
