Catalog description
This course presents a survey of the French public health system and its historical, political, and cultural influences. Students will be introduced to France’s major public health challenges and successes and make comparisons with the United States and other countries’ systems. Excursions may include a visit to the Curie Museum, a tour of the Paris Sewer Museum, and a social and environmental determinants of health walk through a Parisian neighborhood. In-depth class discussions on diverse topics such as climate change and One Health, mental health, and smoking cessation programs, will enable students to learn from the instructor and each other.
