Catalog description
This graduate seminar introduces students to the process of grant writing. The seminar will describe the various skills and procedures for requesting external funding, and provide insight into how to develop and submit a grant proposal to both private foundations and government agencies. The seminar will cover such as topics as grant writing skill development, formulating goals and objectives, budgeting, sponsor guidelines, proposal review process, logic models, grant management strategies, and post-award administration. The seminar will also debunk common myths and misconceptions about grant writing. The seminar will emphasize the importance of developing the skills of program need assessment and program planning and development. Overall, this seminar will explain the steps in developing and writing a grant proposal to secure resources to implement and sustain a research project.
