Catalog description

This course will cover the use of policies to promote public health. In the course, students will learn policy approaches to promoting health by learning: 1) the policy-making process; 2) the application of scientific evidence, ethical frameworks, stakeholder interests, and cultural values to policy development; and 3) advocacy for policy change. The material will be covered with a combination of readings, recorded lectures, and virtual class and group discussions. Students’ competency with the concepts and material will be assessed with six short written assignments.
