Grant Writing for Public Health Practice

This applied course prepares students to develop competitive grant proposals for evidence-based public health programs serving priority population. Students will engage in the full grant development process—from identifying funding opportunities to crafting proposals, budgets, and evaluation plans. Emphasis is placed on persuasive writing, aligning project aims with funder priorities, and incorporating theory-driven approaches grounded in social and behavioral sciences. Students will explore federal, foundation, and community-based funding mechanisms and build skills in interprofessional collaboration and responding to reviewer feedback. The course also highlights strategies for developing interprofessional or intersectoral partnerships to strengthen proposals and improve program outcomes.
