Catalog description

Students will examine evidence-based population interventions for important child health issues which have been shown to be effective and used by governmental and non-governmental organizations and will practice combining the best available research evidence and knowledge of population preferences with community resources to develop policy and program proposals to address child health issues and build their capacity to become effective public health practitioners. An emphasis will be placed upon integrating public health with primary care services to improve child health outcomes equitably. This course fits into the broader goals of the Maternal & Child Health Area of Specialization by introducing students to important maternal-child health issues and challenges during childhood nationally and globally.
