Catalog description
This course introduces the principles and applications of artificial intelligence (AI) in civil and environmental engineering. Students will explore generative AI, AI-assisted programming, data management, environmental data analysis, geospatial analysis, and visualization techniques through hands-on labs and lectures. Special emphasis will be placed on ethical considerations and career readiness through real-world case studies and project work. Graduate students will be expected to engage with the material at a significantly deeper and more independent level by undertaking more complex projects which incorporate current research. The final project must demonstrate a comprehensive, integrative approach, combining multiple AI methods, including a rigorous ethical evaluation and literature review.
