Catalog description

This introductory visualization and digital media course prepares students to move from verbal to visual thinking while building fluency in contemporary design tools, welcoming students from any technical or disciplinary background and treating drawing and modeling as a universal language across architecture, landscape, and engineering. Framed by an introduction to digital media theory and Computer Aided Design (CAD), students develop spatial, analytical, and representational skills across scales while engaging an ecological view of the built environment as an interconnected biosphere. Using tools such as Rhino and the Adobe Suite, students use the computer as a medium for exploration, testing, and communication, forming a foundation for future work in Architecture, Landscape Architecture, and Landscape + Engineering.
