Antisemitisms in the Americas will introduce students to the complexities of this term, its definitions, and its manifestations in the United States and across the Americas, from the late 15th century and the first European exploration and continuing through to the present. Objects of study and interactive materials focus on antisemitisms in relation to racism and other forms of ethnic and religious intolerance, discrimination, hate crimes, and their legacies across time and space. Using literature, film, visual culture, and other media, as well as experiences such as field trips to specialized collections at the Latin American Library, the Museum of the Southern Jewish Experience and the World War II Museum will provide exposure across a five hundred-year period and diverse territory that today constitutes North, Central, South America and the Caribbean, and takes into consideration the Americas' relationships with Europe and Africa as well.
