Catalog description

The course will focus on the central role and importance of Rome inside Italian culture and history along 150 years from the Italian Risorgimento (1871) to the present days. In particular, it will analyze specific social and cultural phenomena related to the 'Eternal City' such as the movie industry in the 1950s, the students' revolution in the '60s, the overpopulation and outgrowing of the outskirts in the '70s, the new symbol of the parasitic government in the '90s, and the new migration waves in the last 20 years. Taught in English.
