Catalog description

This one-credit course builds on INTD 7010 by adding more depth and considering additional dimensions of public engagement for students practicing public engagement. During our weekly meetings we will extend our conversations about the theory and practice of public engagement. Our readings will push us further in our thinking about the theories behind quality community partnerships. Our conversations with guest faculty and community partners will help us to think more carefully about how these theories and methods can be applied in practice. We will also investigate ways of developing outreach initiatives and consider how rigorous assessment and evaluation can guide our work. Throughout the seminar sequence, our goal is to complicate, deepen, and rethink our ideas about what public engagement is and what it can be.
