Publicly Engaged Scholarship I
Tulane University of Louisiana · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
The Publicly Engaged Scholarship (PES) graduate certificate program gives you the opportunity to work on a collaborative, community-engaged project that resonates with your personal and scholarly commitments. In doing so, it provides you with the chance to reflect on your identity as a scholar and the ways that collaboration and engagement can enrich your discipline and scholarly practices while addressing pressing social issues. This course will help you take steps toward realizing the aspirations that led you to apply for the PES Program. Throughout the semester the way you conceptualize public scholarship and your own project will evolve in response to ongoing conversations with your community partners and collaborators, insights from assigned readings and public scholarship within your discipline, discussions with peers, community leaders, and faculty in the PES Program, as well as your composition of a project proposal.
