Catalog description

This course prepares students to lead organizational improvement initiatives by integrating foundational principles of quality improvement, project management, and Lean Six Sigma into a cohesive framework for healthcare operations. Students will develop the skills to analyze resource utilization, optimize processes, and manage projects that drive efficiency and enhance patient outcomes. Emphasizing practical application, the course introduces tools and techniques for continuous process improvement, project planning and execution, and change management. Through case studies, experiential learning, and team-based projects, students will learn to lead cross-functional teams, design improvement strategies, and implement solutions in complex healthcare environments. Topics include quality measurement systems, Lean Six Sigma methodologies, process mapping, resource optimization, stakeholder engagement, and project management tools such as work breakdown structures and Gantt charts.
