Health Policy, Regulation, and Advocacy introduces students to the institutions, processes, and actors that shape U.S. health policymaking. The course examines how problems are defined, agendas set, and policies crafted, enacted, and implemented through legislative and regulatory channels. Emphasis is placed on the roles of Congress, administrative agencies, courts, interest groups, and grassroots organizations in shaping policy outcomes. Students will also develop practical skills in advocacy, including coalition-building, stakeholder analysis, and communication strategies. Through case studies and simulations, students connect theory to practice and engage with contemporary issues in public health and healthcare. This course provides a foundation for advanced policy analysis and prepares students to participate effectively in the policy process.
