EMPL 6410
Introduction to Contract Law and Working with Contracts
Tulane University of Louisiana · UGRD · Fall 2026
Catalog description
This course is intended to equip business professionals who are not lawyers with skills to understand and work with written, negotiated business contracts. You will learn foundational principles and doctrine of Contract law, but the course will concentrate on how that law informs the drafting, negotiation, and analysis of contracts. The course will focus on written, negotiated business contracts rather than consumer contracts or those in other settings, such as trusts and estates or litigation settlement agreements. We will work mostly with negotiated contracts that are drafted in the employment setting. The skills and concepts you learn in this course, however, should help you understand and work with any kind of agreement, including those in other settings, as well as consumer contracts.
