Catalog description
Lectures and discussions cover mineral occurrence and mineral associations, the concentration steps to products used in manufacturing, the economics of critical minerals, their use and future needs in wind, solar, electronics, and EV batteries, and recycling from mine and fossil waste and electronic waste. We will consider environmental, societal and governance issues. Through project work, students will consider one critical mineral and explore new initiatives for urban mining, remining, regional hub and spoke plans for mineral processing, geopolitics and regulatory environments.
